"Awaken to Good Mourning" on Amazon

When I was planning for this week’s show with Mark Hundley, I titled it "Listen. Really Listen," because I wanted to relate the Horse to Human lesson that I learned from Hoss to a Human to Human relationship that I learned from Mark. The lesson was about listening, whether it was me listening to my horse or a grief counselor listening to the needs of a grieving person.

But, during the show, I told my story about Hoss being shoved into a chute and having a cowboy strapped to his back. Mark saw a correlation to someone grieving over a sudden loss of a loved one. You’re put into a difficult situation that is not of your choosing, and you told to deal with it in a very short time. For a bucking horse, it’s 8 seconds. We expect a grieving person to "get over it" and get back to work in three days.
